Property Definitions


Properties allow you to extend system entities to add custom fields. For example, you can configure a property to record extra information against a Skill/Operation/Product/Tool/etc., that is not in the core product.

The Property Definitions will be available on every page type configured here and you can supply the content via a menu item relevant to the page.

Add/Edit Property Definitions

  1. Navigate to the Property Definitions page.
  2. Select the type of table from the Select Table drop down list. Values: ACTIVITY, BOMSLOT, DOLINEITEM, ISSUE, LINECONFIG, LOCATION, OPERATION, ORGANISATION, PRODUCT, SCHEDULE, SKILL, TOOL, USERACCOUNT.
  3. Click New and complete the Add/Edit Property Definitions input screen.

Property Name*: The name of the property.

Default value: The default value assigned to the property.

Data Type*: Select a Data Type. Values: TEXT, NUMERIC, DATE.

Allow values to be empty checkbox: Check this box if you allow this field to be empty.

Dialog Type*: Select the UI. Values: COMBOBOX, COMMENT, TEXTBOX, DATEPICKER, CHECKBOX.

Combo SQL Statement: If COMBOBOX Dialog Type is selected, you can specify the query that will return the list of values to display. This is an advanced feature and requires MESTEC support to help you set it up.

Used for planning checkbox: This checkbox only applies to the Product and Operation tables. Check the box if this parameter is available for use by the Advanced Planning and Scheduling module.

Setting property values

Once you've added a property to a table, you are able to set the property value for every record in that table from the appropriate administration screen. For example, the properties in the Products screen. The image below shows the property names and property values that can be provided for products.
