It is common in manufacturing environments to have specialised printers for different types of labels (e.g., inkjet, zebra, cloth labels, metallic labels, pallet labels).
It is therefore important that controlled labels are only ever printed on label printers that are set up for the design or purpose of the label. It may also be important that only printers in a specific area or location are used for a label design version.
Label printers are also controlled in MES to be limited to specific tasks e.g. test (for test jobs only) or production.
