Item Status

The Item Status screen provides a consolidated view of an item’s lifecycle, including its current state, history, related transactions, quality checks, issues, and build information. It also reflects the state of the item which could be available, work in progress, on hold, consumed, scrapped, kitted, dispatched, in transit, or otherwise restricted from use.

You can perform some transactions on the items from within Item Status for convenience.

Item Status can be accessed from the left-hand navigation, from the Item Status button on the workstation, as a report from Schedule Manager, and from the Stock Items screen.

The Item status screen defaults to the Summary view when it is opened. The Create Out of Sequence and New Task buttons are displayed for all views.

Create Out of Sequence

This button is used to record time against an operation outside its normal position in the sequence.

By default, operations must be completed in order. For example, in a sequence of 10, 20, 30, and 40, you cannot book time to operation 30 until operation 20 is complete, and you cannot book time back to an earlier operation once it has been marked complete. Create out of sequence removes this restriction for a specific booking, letting you record time against an operation that has not yet started, or against one that has already been completed.

When you record time against an operation that has already been completed, the system prompts you to confirm whether the time is being recorded as rework.

Typical use cases include the following.

  1. Completing an operation before a minor, non-critical component is available, then booking the remaining time once that component arrives. For example, marking an assembly operation as complete without a nameplate fitted, then booking the time to fit the nameplate when it arrives.
  2. Recording additional time against an operation that has already been closed, to account for rework identified after the fact.
  3. Starting work on a later operation ahead of schedule, before all work on the preceding operation is finished. For example, beginning a cleaning operation on one section of an item while other sections are still being processed at an earlier operation.

New task

This button is used to create an additional task associated with the item, typically for rework (on WIP items) or repair (on completed items) if workflows for these have been configured.

A new task can run in one of two ways:

  1. As a parallel task, which runs alongside the existing work without interrupting it.
  2. As an inserted task, which must be completed before the existing workflow can continue.

Whether the system creates a simple task or triggers a full workflow depends on whether a matching workflow has been configured for that scenario.

View

The View field drills down into further details about the selected view of the item.

Summary

The Summary view is the top‑level overview of an individual item, displayed when an item is first opened in Item Status. The Summary presents key, high‑level information about the item without requiring navigation to detailed sub‑views. It provides immediate visibility of the item’s overall state and progress before needing to drill into more detailed views such as Bill of Materials, Build History, Case Data, Check Results, etc.

Rollback

This button is displayed in the Summary view when an item in WIP is selected. It is used to reverse a completed operation and remove any work recorded against it.

Rollback treats the operation as though it never happened. Any quality checks, time, or other data recorded against that operation are deleted, and the item reverts to its state before the operation was completed.

For example, if an item is moved from operation 10 to operation 20 in error, use Rollback to return it to operation 10. The system removes the record of operation 20 entirely.

Rollback differs from Create Out of Sequence, even though both let you record more time against an earlier operation after the fact. Rollback assumes the later operation should not have been completed. All data recorded against it is removed.

Create Out of Sequence assumes the later operation was completed correctly. The recorded data is kept, and it simply allows additional time to be booked to an earlier operation.

eCHR

The eCHR view provides access to the Electronic Control History Record (eCHR) associated with an item. The eCHR view presents the controlled manufacturing history that is recorded for the item, in accordance with the configured eCHR profile and approval rules. For more information, see eCHR.

Finding Items

You can search an item in Item Status, or you can jump to Item Status through one of the following ways:

  • Finding items on open ordersIn Schedule Manager, select Order and then Items button. This will show you where each item on the job is currently at. Selecting an individual item provides you a shortcut to Item Status for that item.
  • Finding items on the workstationIn the workstation, select Admin Device and search for the serial number, product or order number. Note, Admin Device requires specific permissions to be able to view. Admin device requires a search string to work – it will not carry out an ‘open’ search.
  • Finding all stock items: The Stock Items report allows you to search for any material item in the system, regardless of status. Selecting the item and clicking Details short cuts you to Item Status.
